Shawn Costello

Shawn Costello loves teaching art at Lisbon Elementary School! She has taught art for many years in Maryland and for three years in Maine. She still has her house in Maine, in a little coastal fishing village called Lubec. In the summers, she has an art school called "Summer Brushes" where students of all levels come and paint outdoors in "plein air."
Please visit her Web site at www.shawncostello.com. Ms. Costello also has illustrated several books and is represented by Storybook Arts Inc. She has taught for the Maryland Institute College of Art's Young People's Studio for many years and was the founder and director of The Community Art Center of Towson State. In Maine, she taught on the Passamaquoddy reservation and then in the town of Machias. During that time, she created a puppet troupe that performed in local libraries, as well as large puppets that were featured in parades. She is a lover of storytelling and illustrating, as well as a bit of magic.
Ms. Costello lives in a 200-year-old barn with her son and her pug, Penny Lane, and her terrier, Mr. Skip (right). Her car is named Zippy (top left) and loves the drive to Lisbon every morning.
Many thanks to Carl Graziano for building and maintaining LisbonArt.org. Lisbon has a wonderful community of caring parents and advocates for the arts. Ms. Costello feels blessed to be part of such a wonderful school.
